DRY SKIN
Our skin comes into contact with our environment immediately after birth, and responds from the beginning to external and internal factors. Dry skin is particularly likely to develop from the 3rd decade of life. Up to then the skin was normal, but now it produces less sebum. Its protective film becomes thinner. Our skin becomes drier, more sensitive and more brittle. Why? And what sorts of moisture or even oil does it need? Join us on a fascinating journey in the guide below! Here you will learn more about dry skin.
What does dry skin mean?
Like every skin type, dry skin has two sides: the good side and the side that simply creates certain challenges for us. Dry skin initially looks rosy and delicate, with a velvety surface. It has no unsightly greasy sheen. Because there is hardly any skin oil present, the pores are also not enlarged. This means that skin blemishes have very little chance. That’s the nice side. Unfortunately, however, it also tends to low cornification, which means that your skin’s top layer remains thin and regularly flakes off. The circulation can be clearly seen through it. The result is a lovely rosy complexion.
On the other hand, dry skin, whether on your body or your face, is always deficient in something: you need more oil and moisture. And with it, protection, because your skin’s top layer is rather thin. This quickly gives rise to an unpleasantly taut feeling, particularly after using water. Flaking, rawness and itching are the result. Dry skin also tends to form wrinkles more rapidly than other skin types. Dry facial skin often also means dry body skin. You are probably also likely to have dry hands, dry legs, dry hair and dry lips.
What’s the best way of caring for dry skin?
The important thing is to keep oil and moisture in the right ratio, because the wrong one can cause other signs of deficiency, which means they need to be brought into balance. Among other things, this prevents premature skin ageing and the formation of wrinkles. Your diet should also be balanced and varied, with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. This is essential for beautiful skin. In this way you can deliberately sustain your skin from the inside. A treatment with a PHARMOS NATUR Beauty Therapist will support and boost the effect of everything you already do for your skin at home. More than anything else, dry skin benefits from a cosmetic treatment with a scrub, moisturising products full of active substances, a nourishing massage and intensive compresses. At the same time, this is wonderful for de-stressing. Every pleasant touch and every massage effects our hormone balance. The body releases fewer stress hormones and more neurotransmitters that calm and bring balance.

Tip: ideal skincare supplement
We recommend applying an OIL SERUM as the ideal care supplement for dry skin. Either neat, on areas of dry skin, or mixed with your favourite cream. This results in an even richer product, which is ideal when the skin is particularly dry. It intensifies the skincare treatment at night or when it’s cold.
